Growing-up in a family originally from Pontus, Ketime was raised in Cyprus and was closely connected to the traditional music and was thus exposed to music from the age of 6.
It comes from Ancient Greek κῆτος (kētos), in reference to the sea monster goddess Ceto, daughter of Gaia and Pontus, and said to resemble a gigantic whale or fish.
