Most of the houses in the village are located close to the church, which lies just west of the B1332 road from Norwich to Poringland.
The club was established in 1903 as Poringland and District F.C., and initially played in the Norwich & District League, before becoming founder members of the Anglian Combination in 1965.
The village sign, which stands close to the church and the village pond, depicts the artist John Crome, founder of the Norwich School of artists, working on his famous painting 'The Poringland Oak'.
