The Macellum includes three majestic columns in cipolin marble, which show erosion from marine Lithophaga molluscs when, at an earlier time, the ground level was much lower due to Bradyseism, and sea-water could flow in.

In particular, the town of Pozzuoli features the Roman Macellum of Pozzuoli in which three marble columns show bands of boreholes or Gastrochaenolites left by marine Lithophaga molluscs.
On July 8, 2010, Pagano and two other men – including his fugitive nephew Carmine Pagano – were arrested in a beach villa in Licola near the town of Pozzuoli, on the northern shoreline of the sprawling southern Italian city of Naples.
A club originally founded in 1975 in the Province of Caserta but had moved to Ponticelli in Naples, moved again in 1986 to Pozzuoli as a means to carry on the older clubs legacy in the city.
