Friedrich Preller der Jüngere (1 September 1838, Weimar - 21 October 1901, Blasewitz at Dresden) was a German painter of landscapes and marine scenes.
James Preller (born February 1st 1961) is the author of children's books including Bystander, Six Innings, and the Jigsaw Jones Mysteries.

After graduating from college in 1983, James Preller was employed as a waiter for one year before being hired as a copywriter by Scholastic Corporation, where he was introduced (through their books) to many notable children's authors.
