Karolina Kaczorowska (maiden name Mariampolska) (born September 26, 1930 in Stanisławów) is a widow of Ryszard Kaczorowski, the last President of the Republic of Poland in exile, and thus the last emigree First Lady (1989-1990).
The president, as the head of state, is the supreme commander of the Armed Forces and has the power to veto legislation passed by parliament, but otherwise has a mostly representative role.
The University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn was established on September 1, 1999, in accordance with the new Statute of Sejm signed by the President of the Republic of Poland, Aleksander Kwaśniewski, as well as the Minister of National Education, Mirosław Handke, in August of the same year.
He became President of the Republic of Poland (in Exile) in 1986 succeeding Edward Raczyński.
