The Blackphone is a smartphone developed by the makers of Geeksphone, Silent Circle and PGP that will provide encryption for phone calls, emails, texts, and internet browsing.
Encryption is supported for files "at rest" using PGP, as well as for passwords using an MD5 or SHA, SHA512, MD4 non-reversible hash.
The Crypto Contacts list is based on a trust model similar to the Web of trust known from PGP.
It was designed to interoperate with PGP, the email encryption program initially designed and developed by Phil Zimmermann.
