Priorei is best known for an ancient tree, believed to be over 1000 years old, the Priorlinde (the prior's lime).

The former independent settlement of Dahl, consisting of Dahl, Priorei and Rummenohl, was incorporated in 1970 into the town of Breckerfeld in the district (Kreis) of Ennepe-Ruhr.
