The mines of Zletovo provide most of the natural materials that are processed in Probištip.

It has a long tradition of hearty country eating, and is close to both the monastery of Gabriel Lesnovski (dedicated to St.Archangel Michael and St.Gavril Lesnovski) and the stone formations of Kuklica.
According to Serbian authors, after the Treaty of San Stefano, the populations of the counties of Kumanovo, Skopje, Kriva Palanka, Kratovo, Kyustendil, Kočani, Strumica, Probištip, Veles, Debar, Kičevo and Prilep sent deputations and appeals to Prince Milan of Serbia, imploring him to not abandon Macedonia to the Bulgarians and to assign the region to Serbia.
This dialect is spoken in the central eastern part of Macedonia, respectively in Štip, Probištip, Kočani, Vinica, Radoviš and in the in surrounding areas.
