Scotland’s Colin McRae won the 1995 World Rally Championship for drivers, followed later by England’s Richard Burns in 2001 and Norwegian Petter Solberg in 2003.
In March 2006, motorsport company Prodrive announced its intent to build a 200 acre (about 800,000 square metres) motorsport facility called The Fulcrum.

Following the introduction of Group R regulations in 2013 and the restructuring of the secondary World Rally Championship categories, Ascania Racing switched to campaigning in the WRC-2 with Mini John Cooper Works S2000 cars supported by British motorsport firm Prodrive.
2003 would be the best year for the cars, as Prodrive won the GTS class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, took second in the GTS class championship in the American Le Mans Series with four wins, and Scuderia Italia won the FIA GT championship with eight wins.
Prodrive were selected to prepare the Countryman WRC and the factory team had its first test outing of the 2011 WRC season at the 2011 Rally d'Italia Sardegna, before taking on the full calendar in 2012 and 2013.
The Prodrive P2 is a prototype two-seater sports car designed, engineered and built by Prodrive at its Banbury and Warwick sites.
Prodrive's core motorsport business remains based at their existing Banbury headquarters.
