Scotland’s Colin McRae won the 1995 World Rally Championship for drivers, followed later by England’s Richard Burns in 2001 and Norwegian Petter Solberg in 2003.

In March 2006, motorsport company Prodrive announced its intent to build a 200 acre (about 800,000 square metres) motorsport facility called The Fulcrum.

Ascania Racing

Following the introduction of Group R regulations in 2013 and the restructuring of the secondary World Rally Championship categories, Ascania Racing switched to campaigning in the WRC-2 with Mini John Cooper Works S2000 cars supported by British motorsport firm Prodrive.
