Goran Petrović has won the Borislav Pekić Fund Scholarship; the "Prosveta Award"; the "Meša Selimović Award"; as well as various other awards: the "Charter of Rača", "Golden Bestseller" and "Vital Award"; the National Library of Serbia Award; the "Most widely read Book Award" (NIN, 2001); the "October Award of the City of Kraljevo"; finally, the "Borislav Stanković Award".
He also worked for twenty years as editor for the leading publishing house of Prosveta.

He was the vice-president of the Association of Writers of Serbia, the editor-in-chief of the Prosveta publishing house from 1994 to 2000 and won numerous awards including the Isidora Sekulić award and the Milan Bogdanović award for the best written critique.
The local Bulgarian Orthodox church of Saint Paraskeva was built in 1858-1862, and the Prosveta community centre (chitalishte) was founded in 1909.
He is the winner of the following literary prizes: “Isidora Sekulić,” “Milan Rakić,” “Branko Miljković,” “The Award of Prosveta,” “The Seal of Town of Sremski Karlovci,” “Pegasus,” “Marble Medallion and Sounds.”
