On 16 August 2012, YB Fong Kui Lin courageously apprehended a snatch thief attempting to escape in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur.
Pudua was a Latinized version of the name proposed by Alfred Henry Garrod in 1877 but was ruled invalid.
From that point the characteristic trophy award emerged: the Pudú (The Pudú is a small kind of deer, typical of southern Chile).
Some of the rare species that inhabit the Valdivian Coastal Range include the Pudu (the smallest deer in the world), the Degu, the Marine Otter, and the Monito del Monte, or mountain monkey (actually a marsupial).

By 1900, an extension of the line to Port Swettenham was only completed the year before, and a branch line through Kuala Lumpur (stopping at Sultan Street), Pudoh and the mining town of Ampang was operating for use in the transport of tin from Ampang.
Located on the northwestern tip of Pudu, the station is in the vicinity of the Methodist Boys School, Victoria Institution, the former Pudu Prison, the Hang Tuah police station and the National Stadium.
In 1986 Kevin Barlow and Brian Chambers, both Australian nationals, were executed in Pudu Prison for trafficking heroin.
