The school owns a farm, known as the Welsh Farm of Troedyrhiwgellifawr ("House in the grove at the foot of the hill"), which lies near the village of Pumsaint and the town of Llandovery.
It was associated with the Dolaucothi Gold Mines and its remains lie beneath the adjoining village of Pumsaint in the Welsh county of Carmarthenshire.
During his tenure, he probably established the fort at Pumsaint in west Wales, largely to exploit the gold deposits at Dolaucothi.
