Aluula

In the post-independence period, Aluula became the principal town in the Alula District, situated in the autonomous Puntland state.


2013 Somalia cyclone

Along with the Puntland regional authorities, the Federal Government of Somalia declared a state of emergency in the cyclone struck areas.

On November 9, Puntland's Interior Minister Ali Yusuf Ali Hosh announced on Radio Garowe that the Puntland authorities had been informed by international meteorological agencies that flood-inducing cyclones were expected to hit Somalia's northeastern coast.

Jama Garad Ali

Garaad Jaamac was crowned in Las Anod City in front of a huge number of people including high-ranking politicians from Somali Transitional Government, Somaliland and Puntland.

In October 2007, the conflict mushroomed into a regional conflict over control of the city of Las Anod, as Somaliland regular army forces mobilized from their base in the town of Adhicadeeye, west of the city, and entered the conflict.
