Ted Purdon (1930–2007), South African professional footballer
He was one of three sons born to John Murdoch Paterson of Rutherglen, and Margaret (Purdon) Paterson of Partick.
In 1943, J. Purdon Martin and Julia Bell described a pedigree of X-linked mental disability, without considering the macroorchidism (larger testicles).
Born in the village of Nitshill near Glasgow, a former coal mining village whose mine had closed before Purdon grew up.
One of the club's earliest and most notable players was Frank Purdon, who would later go on to play from Newport and Wales.
