In the past, LaRue co-hosted the Arthritis Telethon with Jayne Wyman, judged two segments of Puttin' on the Hits, appeared as a celebrity guest on Star Search, and been a special guest on numerous television shows, including several appearances on The Dale Evans Show, The Today Show, The Carol Lawrence Show and numerous other Christian and secular programs.
At times, certain sports news, including Ohio State football and Ohio State basketball and the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals, are discussed as a topic in the "Puttin' in Some Work!" segment, if the topic discussed is deemed as important to area viewers.
It was recorded live at the London Palladium and released as a double A side along with Gamblin' Man and reached #1 in the UK charts in June and July 1957, where it spent two weeks in this position.This was the last record to reach the top of the charts that was only released in 78 format,the original Pye Nixa does not exist in 7" format although was re-released on a 7".
Cormier also received notoriety after the Beastie Boys featured his name in their hit single “Body Movin’” off their 1998 Grammy award winning album Hello Nasty with the lyrics, “Puttin’ bodies in motion ‘cause I got the notion / Like Roy Cormier with the coconut lotion.”
