unusual facts about Quercus fusiformis

The majority of the preserve is covered by Texas Live Oak (Quercus fusiformis) and Ashe Juniper (Juniperus ashei)...commonly called "cedar"... woodlands, Live Oak savannah, Texas Red Oak (Quercus buckleyi) woodlands, and open grasslands composed primarily of Sideoats Grama (Bouteloua curtipendula and Little bluestem (Schizachyrium scoparium).

Other plants associated with it include the Mohr shin oak, Quercus mohriana, oneseed juniper, Juniperus monosperma, cane cholla, Opuntia imbricata, purplefruited pricklypear, Opuntia phaeacantha, Mexican buckeye, Ungnadia speciosa, Texas persimmon, Diospyros texana, hairy tridens, Erioneuron pilosum and plateau oak, Quercus fusiformis.
