Still, some declined the Colle residence and kept their usual Roman residence: for example, Sandro Pertini preferred his old flat near the Trevi Fountain.

Camillo Astalli

Contemporary John Bargrave would later recall that at the funeral of Cardinal Panciroli (at the Quirinal Palace), others told him that it had been the Pope's plan all along for Astalli to take responsibility for a number of failures and scandals and then be removed shortly before the Pope's death to ensure his estate was inherited by his original Cardinal-Nephew, Camillo Pamphili.

Giovanni Battista Caprara

Appointed titular archbishop of Iconio on 1 December 1766, he was consecrated bishop in the Quirinal Palace on 8 December 1766 by Pope Clement XIII.

Melozzo da Forlì

The figure of Christ is now in the Quirinal Palace; while some of the other portions, which influenced Raphael, are in the sacristy of St Peter's.
