26 January — the Rugby Football Union (RFU) is founded at the Pall Mall Restaurant, which is situated near Trafalgar Square at 1 Cockspur Street, London.
The start of the 2008 - 09 season saw the award of the RFU's Seal of Approval to the Club which was presented at a pre-match lunch by Burnley's then M.P. Kitty Ussher.
Along with clubs like Grammar and University, Sacred Heart Old Boys, the predecessor of Marist, participated in an "Old Boys" competition until 1908, when the Auckland RFU scrapped the "district" scheme which had been in place from 1891.
The 50th Anniversary October 1997 dinner with attendance by guests such as Peter Brooks (President of the RFU) Will Carling (Former England skipper and British Lions) and former Marlow player Paul Burnell (Scotland and British Lions) was a further example of the esteem Marlow is held in Rugby
Medicals RFC are most famous for the 1995-6 side that reached the final of the RFU Pilkington Shield at Twickenham and won the trophy – beating Helston RFC, Cornwall 16 v 6.
The Clubs Ground Is Named after former RFU Chairman and England International Ron Jacobs Who lived in Thorney in his later years.
