3 unusual facts about RSO Records

Estelle Axton

After the non-compete agreement expired, Axton formed Fretone Records whose biggest hit, "Disco Duck" by Rick Dees was licensed for distribution to RSO Records.

Paul Warren

He was signed by RSO Records and released his first solo album One of the Kids in 1980.

Ric Grech

In 1973 RSO Records released the only album under his own name, credited to 'Rick' Grech.

Curtom Records

Due to the decline in popularity of soul music, the label went through varying changes of distributions from several labels - first by Buddah Records, then by Warner Bros., RSO Records, and finally Arista Records, before closing for good in 1980 (although the very first Curtom 45's were independently distributed).

Disco Duck

"Disco Duck" was initially released in the south by Estelle Axton's Fretone label but was later released by RSO Records for national and international distribution.
