The bubble chamber was invented by Donald A. Glaser of the United States in 1952, and for this, he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1960.
He stayed there to do graduate work, and in 1904 received the degree of D.Ph. His doctoral thesis was entitled Über den kannibalismus bei Fasciolaria tulipa (var. distans) und deren larvale excretionsorgane.
