Rafael Peñas Cruz

The story was based on a young student of Cruz's from his days as a schoolmaster at the City of London School in the capital.

After completing an MA in Hispanic studies at Birbeck University of London, he worked at schools and colleges teaching Spanish and Hispanic culture, and started work at the London School of Economics in 2000 in the Language Centre.

Terenci Moix

An annual literature prize, bearing his name, the Terenci Moix Fundación Arena de Narrativa Gay y Lésbica has been instituted; won most recently by the Anglo-Spanish novelist Rafael Peñas Cruz for his coming-of-age work "Charlie".
