His paternal grandfather was Sardar Noor Mohammed Khan Leghari, founder of Rahimabad.
Leghari was born in the village Rahimabad in Rahim Yar Khan District, Pakistan, the third son of Sardar Gulam Haider Khan Leghari – a landlord of the district and Member of the Legislative Assembly MLA of the Bahawalpur Assembly.
