Noted jurist and former law minister Ram Jethmalani along with many other well known citizens filed a Writ Petition (Civil) No. 176 of 2009 in the Supreme Court of India seeking the court's directions to help bring back black money stashed in tax havens abroad and initiate efforts to strengthen the governance framework to prevent further creation of black money.
Mahesh Jethmalani is son of eminent lawyer, jurist and former Union Minister Ram Jethmalani and Durga Jethmalani.
After leaving University, he moved to Delhi to join Ram Jethmalani, whose political campaigns and schedules he managed.

Ram Jethmalani, Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, has been associated with Symbiosis Law School, Pune as Professor Emeritus since 6 September 2003 and has delivered public lectures at Symbiosis, guiding the community service activities through his continuous support in the legal aid service and setting up of a permanent Legal Aid Centre at Pirangut village, near Pune.
