He has received many awards, including the Nirjhariṇī Award by the Uttar Pradesh Sanskrit Academy for his work Mṛtkūṭam kāvyaśatam, the Paṃ jagannātha Award by the Delhi Sanskrit Academy, the Cārūdeva śāstrī award for his work Saṃskṛta jīvanam, Madhya Pradesh Sanskrit Academy's Bhoj Award for Bāla rāmāyaṇam and the Vachaspati Award by the K. K. Birla Foundation for Sāketa saurabham.
She was a fount of inspiration for C.V. being well-versed in Malayalam epics, Ramayanam, Mahabharatham and Bhagavatham and also in the Puranas and folk lore.
His literary masterpiece, Kavi-Ramayanam, which he wrote at the age of 25, is deemed to be the motivational force behind the 1936 Temple Entry Proclamation, which abolished the ban on low-caste people entering Hindu temples in the state of Travancore.
