Bald arch

On Wednesday, 14 March 2003, the church of St Alfwold in the village of Ramsbury in England was closed temporarily while the masonry was reinforced with steel braces.

As such, one of Plegmund's responsibilities was to re-establish its authority, and, in an attempt to do this, between 909 and 918 he created new sees within the existing Diocese of Winchester in Crediton, Ramsbury, Sherborne and Wells.

David Stancliffe

The son of the former Dean of Winchester, the Very Revd Michael Stancliffe, who was himself ordained at Salisbury Cathedral, Stancliffe was born in 1942 in Devizes, Wiltshire, where his father was curate of St James' Southbroom, later serving at Ramsbury and Cirencester before becoming Chaplain to Westminster School.

Ramsbury Manor is now the home of the property tycoon Harry Hyams.
