From 1976 to 1990, he worked in sales and marketing for Rank Xerox and Pitney Bowes, before proceeding to undertake postgraduate studies between 1990 and 1993.
During the 19th century, the town grew due to revenues produced by the local brewing industry, while in the 20th century the town grew further due to the Rank Xerox photocopier factory.
