He sent off one Ghanaian player for diving and ordered the Ghana coach, Ratomir Dujković, to leave the field after the coach argued with him about the offside goal.
Afterwards he also coached Universidad de Los Andes from Mérida and later their cross-town rivals Estudiantes.

Dujković took his protest to the referee Ľuboš Micheľ and reportedly told him sarcastically that he should put on a Brazilian jersey.
