For the first time, Betzdorf, Frisange, Lorentzweiler, Roeser, Sandweiler, and Remich had populations over 3,000 each, meaning that their elections were held by proportional representation.
The MEGAL pipeline crosses the Trans Europa Naturgas Pipeline and the Remich pipeline at Mittelbrunn, the SETG (pipeline from the German-Dutch border) at Gernsheim, and the pipeline going to the Ruhr Industrial Area at Rimpar.
It is joined by a bridge across the Moselle River with Schengen in Luxembourg and by a second bridge between Nennig and Remich.
