Baradene College of the Sacred Heart is a Catholic high school for girls aged between 11 to 18 (Year 7-13) located in Remuera, Auckland, New Zealand.
He was particularly alarmed that Labour had nearly won the wealthy seat of Remuera, traditionally a National stronghold.
His parents, Les and Ruth McLaren, owned a service station and workshop in Remuera Rd, Remuera, Auckland.
Anderton resigned in August 1968 when he moved to Remuera, and Douglas did not stand for re-election in 1968, but successfully stood for parliament in the Manukau electorate in the 1969 election.
