Two days following the running of the race, NASCAR VP of competition Robin Pemberton formally apologized for the problems, saying that it didn't go to IMS with the correct car-tire combination.
Previously, Pemberton was a crew chief for several NASCAR teams over the course of 17 years, heading teams for Rusty Wallace, Mark Martin and Kyle Petty.
