Anghel Demetriescu (Alexandria, Teleorman; October 5, 1847 - Karlovy Vary; July 18, 1903) was a Romanian historian, writer and literary critic, who became a member of the Romanian Academy in 1902.
However 75% of the electorate did not vote in sign of protest, this being the lowest turnout in Romanian history for an election, and the percentage that voted for her was from a minority composed of the members of the party that was once ruled by her father Traian Băsescu, currently the President of Romania.
The plot is intertwined with a travelogue of Romania and references to Romanian history and culture, such as the life of the artist Constantin Brâncuși, the writer Panait Istrati and the love affair between Romania's interbellum king, Carol II, and his mistress, Magda Lupescu.
