After studying the modern oboe with Raymond Dusté and John de Lancie, Haynes moved to Holland where he studied early music performance from 1964 to 1967 with Frans Brüggen and Gustav Leonhardt at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague.
Ivana finished her bachelor composition studies with Marko Ruzdjak (2002), and her master studies in the Royal Conservatory of The Hague with Louis Andriessen, Gilius van Bergeijk and Diderik Wagenaar (2006).
He studied composition with Robert Heppener at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam and Brian Ferneyhough at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague.
Later, an interest in baroque music led him to summer courses wirh Laurence Dreyfus, and afterwards he went on to Royal Conservatory of The Hague where he studied viola da gamba with Wieland Kuijken and baroque cello with Jaap ter Linden, receiving postgraduate diplomas in viola da gamba and baroque cello in 1992.
