Following studies at the Enescu Music High School in Bucharest, he went to England, where he graduated with honors from the Royal Northern College of Music in 1994.
He later became Musical Director of the Festival Theatre at Cambridge, and in 1933 was appointed a professor at the Royal Manchester College of Music (now merged into the Royal Northern College of Music).
The union of the orchestra and the choir was so successful that the cooperation of EMSO and EMSC continued with concerts in Chester Cathedral and the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester in 2010 under the conduction of John Anderson and Daniel Parkinson, and in Giessen and Frankfurt, Germany in 2011, under the leadership of Stefan Ottersbach and Anna Katharina Kalmbach with once again spectacular concerts that astonished the local audience and media.

Tait studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester under Emma Ferrand and Ralph Kirshbaum and at the Musik Akademie in Basel, Switzerland, with Thomas Demenga.
