Louis Powell

A ubiquitous figure in Bath sport, Louis Powell trophies are still competed for at Bath Cricket Club and Bath Golf Club at Sham Castle, and he was the first to broadcast cricket commentary on a hospital radio system at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, covering cricket from the Recreation Ground alongside Bill Andrews.

Royal United Hospital

The combined institution opened as the Bath United Hospital in 1826 in Beau Street in a building designed by John Pinch the elder.

The hospital became a NHS hospital trust in 1992, as the Royal United Hospital Bath NHS Trust.

William Henry Thorman

By 1897 Thorman was a Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians, becoming House Surgeon and Resident Medical Officer at the Royal United Hospital in Bath, Somerset.
