Bruno Hassenstein (November 23, 1839 - August 27, 1902) was a German cartographer born in Ruhla, Thuringia.
In East German times the mill was used as a holiday home by the clock factory in Ruhla, before being reopened to the public again in 1989 as a restaurant and guesthouse.
According to a legend, which was recorded by Johannes Rothe in 1421, Louis II was travelling anonymously and one night, he found shelter with a blacksmith in Ruhla.
