Isthmian League

The sponsors after Rothmans to the present day have been: Michael Lawrie (1977–78), Berger (1978–82), Servowarm (1982–85), Vauxhall-Opel (1985–90), Vauxhall (1990–91), Diadora (1991–95), ICIS (1995–97) and Ryman (1997–present).

It is sponsored by Ryman, and therefore officially known as the Ryman League.

Ryman

It was founded in 1893 by Henry J Ryman who opened the first store on Great Portland Street, London and was successfully owned and managed by the Ryman family until the 1970s.

Theo Paphitis, who was formerly a 'Dragon' on BBC's Dragons' Den, acquired Ryman in 1995 and has since turned it into successful and profitable businesses comprising 236 stores with a group turnover of more than £120m.

Developments by Paphitis have included sponsorship of the English football Isthmian League.


Buddy Miller

At the 4th Annual Americana Music Association Honors & Awards, the Ryman Auditorium September 2005, Miller received the Album of the Year Award for Universal United House of Prayer, and the opening cut of that album, "Worry Too Much" (penned by Mark Heard, and originally released on his Second Hand album), won the Song of the Year Award.

Mendel Ryman, who immigrated to Toronto from Jezierna, a town in the Austrian Empire, in 1903, built the first Jewish bathhouse and mikvah (shvitz) on Center Avenue.
