On 17 November 2011, Brendan joined the Malaysian club, Sabah FA as one of the two foreign players allowed in the 2012 Malaysia Super League.
This was capped off by a hat-trick in the 3–0 win against Sabah FA in the 2003 Malaysia Cup final held in National Stadium, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur.
Penampang Stadium is occasionally used for afternoon matches, usually when Likas Stadium was renovated or if floodlights require maintenance.
