In 1517, Ammuqa was incorporated into the Ottoman Empire, and by 1596 it was under the administration of the nahiyah ("subdistrict") of Jira, part of Sanjak Safad, with a population of 391.
By late June 1948, Israeli military intelligence reported (somewhat inaccurately, according to Morris), that "All the Arab villages in the Safad area as far northwestward as Sasa were empty".
It is during the rule of the Ottoman Empire over Palestine that the form Kafr ʿInān (Kafr 'Anan) first appears. The village is listed in 1596, as forming part of the nahiya (subdistrict) of Jira under the Liwa of Safad, with a population of 259.
