Alexander Fraser, 11th Lord Saltoun (1604–1693), was a Scottish peer and the 10th Laird of Philorth.
Andrew Fletcher (1653–1716) the grandson of the first at Saltoun was known, during his life and in death, as 'The Patriot', for his unflinching opposition to the Acts of Union 1707.
Drummond, born in 1719 or 1720, was descended from the family of Abernethy of Saltoun in East Lothian.
The village forms part of Yester Parish, and is a linked charge which combines the parishes of Bolton & Saltoun, and Humbie.
