She married first to Captain Frank Wigsell Arkwright August 29, 1878 at Sanderstead, Surrey Court, England and had two children, a son Esme Arkwright, and a daughter Vera Nina Arkwright, who later through two marriages became Vera Bate Lombardi (b. 1883 London - d. 1948 Rome).
It is also conveniently placed for a number of others located within a couple of miles from the village including Croydon High School, Harris Academy Purley, Riddlesdown Collegiate, Royal Russell School, The Quest Academy, Thomas More Catholic School, Warlingham School, and Whitgift School.

One of the more curious aspects of Sanderstead is that it has no pub, unlike nearby Warlingham which has around six.
It consisted of the main settlements of Coulsdon and Purley, both in the parish of Coulsdon, along with the parish of Sanderstead and (from 1933) Farleigh.
In the 13th century a lawsuit with the Abbey of Hyde over the boundary of their Sanderstead manor took place.
