His remains were brought to Pernambuco in 1870, and, in 1872, he was buried at a mausoleum built for him, in the bairro of Santo Amaro, in Recife.
Many people resided in nearby settlements including Santo Amaro, Toledo, Rosais and Beira.
His holidays were spent with his father in Santo Amaro, Bahia (his father never did marry his mother), and he and his mother made frequent trips back to Ipirá as well.

In 1911, Farquhar purchased from the firm Prado, Chaves & Cia control over the Companhia Balneária de Santo Amaro, founded in 1892 which under the direction of Councillor Antonio Prado had been created to organize a tourist beach resort in the place that is today the center of Guarujá.
