Alessandro Di Sanzo (born 26 August 1967) is an Italian actor best known for his portrayal of the teenaged transvestite prostitute Mario Libassi, nicknamed Mery in Marco Risi's dramatic film, Mery per sempre ("Forever Mary"), which was released in 1989 and where he made his acting debut.

As opposed to Xuanzang of Journey to the West, which is in turn based on the historical Buddhist monk Xuanzang, Genjo Sanzo is not the "purest" person undertaking a holy pilgrimage.
In the manga and anime series Saiyuki a character named Genjyo Sanzo uses a harisen to punish both Son Goku and Sha Gojyo when the two argue for even the smallest of things.
