In the second season of Star Trek, Lenard guest-starred in the episode "Journey to Babel" (1967) as Sarek, the father of Spock (Leonard Nimoy).
The Genesis Device regenerates Spock's body and restores his life; Kirk and his crew manage to get Spock off the planet and return him to his home planet of Vulcan.
It features the first appearance of Sarek (Mark Lenard) and Amanda (Jane Wyatt), the parents of First Officer Spock—as well as the first appearance in the series of two other alien species, the Andorians and the Tellarites.
Lenard provided Sarek's voice in the Star Trek: The Animated Series episode "Yesteryear" (1973), and played an ill-fated Klingon Captain in Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979).
