After the release of Saudades de Rock and the subsequent 2009 tour, Bettencourt went on tour with Rihanna, putting Extreme on hiatus and giving time for Cherone to return to the Hurtsmile project.
Saudades de Rock (which roughly translates from Portuguese as "Nostalgic Yearnings of Rock") is Extreme's fifth studio album, released on August 12, 2008.
