John II of France

While negotiating a peace accord, John was at first held in the Savoy Palace, then at a variety of locations, including Windsor, Hertford, Somerton Castle in Lincolnshire, Berkhamsted Castle in Hertfordshire, and briefly at King John's Lodge, formerly known as Shortridges, in East Sussex.

Society of Knights of the Round Table

The society was formed at the Fountain Coffee House in 1720, the site of the former Savoy Palace on London's Strand.


Constance of Castile, Duchess of Lancaster

Crowds lined the streets to see her as she processed to the Savoy Palace in the Strand where she was ceremonially received by her husband, who had proclaimed himself King of Castile and León on 29 January.

Liberty of the Savoy
