unusual facts about Scarlet Traces: The Great Game

Daniel Dravot

In the comics adaptation H. G. Wells' The War of the Worlds and Scarlet Traces Ian Edginton and D'Israeli, Dravot works for Dr. Davenport Spry, an official of the British government preparing for a counter-invasion of Mars following the events of The War of the Worlds.

Mars: The Home Front

The concept of the Martians of Wells and Burroughs coexisting (and fighting) on the same fictional Mars was also used in Larry Niven's 1999 novel Rainbow Mars and briefly indicated in Ian Edginton's 2006 comic Scarlet Traces: The Great Game.

Spycraft: The Great Game

Although the game was not approved by either organization, it tends to favour realism due to its coordination with former CIA director William Colby and former KGB Major-General Oleg Kalugin.

After returning to Moscow, Thorn hunts down Harmonica and just as he is about to kill the president, Thorn comes to the rescue and finishes Harmonica.

Thorn travels to Heidelberg and meets with Onyx, who reveals the pit is being exchanged at a factory that evening.

William Colby

Colby also lent his expertise and knowledge, along with Oleg Kalugin, to the Activision game Spycraft: The Great Game, which was released shortly before his death.
