Mabuse shows Antwerp influence in the large altar-pieces previously located at Castle Howard and Scawby.
It is built in the Early English style, but was substantially rebuilt in 1843 by William Adams Nicholson, and in 1870 by James Fowler of Louth.

The off-limits event was the first of its type for 10 years and took place at Hibaldstow level crossing near Scawby in Lincolnshire, where the B1206 road crosses the Barnetby–Gainsborough railway line.
