Wolf-Dietrich Wilcke (born 11 March 1913 in Schrimm, Posen, killed in action 23 March 1944 near Schöppenstedt) was a German World War II fighter ace who served in the Luftwaffe from 1935 until his death.
Since the Middle Ages the towns of Königslutter, Schöningen, Schöppenstedt and Helmstedt, all within the nature park, have been steeped in history.
On 10 July 1843 a line was opened by the Duchy of Brunswick State Railway from Wolfenbüttel to the Magdeburg–Halberstadt line at Oschersleben via Schöppenstedt, Jerxheim and Gunsleben.
