In the March 25, 1990 issue of The New York Times, writer James Howard Kunstler published a piece entitled "Schuylerville Stands Still".

Schuylerville was the site of the Battles of Saratoga (177) and contains several historic buildings including General Schuyler House and Old Saratoga Reformed Church.
The two, accompanied by New Hampshire and Vermont militia and Warner’s Regiment, operated to the north of Saratoga (today’s Schuylerville), N.Y. They crossed the Hudson River and by the morning of October 13 had occupied a narrow pass between a marsh by the river and a hill that is now called Stark’s Knob.
The Marshall House, a National Historic Place, lies eight miles (13 km) north of the main entrance to the Park on U.S. Route 4 and NY 32 north of the village of Schuylerville.
