On July 2, 1843, she was wrecked on Devil's Limb Reef at Seal Island, Nova Scotia without loss of life.
At about 13:00 Aberdeen was approaching the Black Ledge, about one and a quarter miles from Seal Island, when she struck the wreck of the trawler Snipe, which had sunk the previous June.

E. H. Harriman, John Burroughs, John Muir, Edward S. Curtis and Henry Gannett set out to Seal Island and other Bering Sea islands and to the coast of Siberia and the Bering Strait from the Club, and celebrated there on their return.
The largest island in the group is sometimes referred to as 'Seal Island' and is home to Atlantic Grey Seals, dogfish, anglerfish and sea anemones.
The series won eight Academy Awards for the studio including three Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature awards for Vanishing Prairie, Living Desert and White Wilderness and five Best Two Reel Live Action Short awards for Seal Island, In Beaver Valley, Nature's Half Acre, Water Birds and Bear Country.
